Meet Our Founder
True health considers the whole person. Body, mind and spirit.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kaydine Edwards. I'm a scientist and educator, passionate about making health information more accessible. Health misinformation is everywhere, especially on social media and I want to fix that. Here, you’ll find current health research translated into clear, digestible insights you can understand and apply to everyday life. I’m passionate about dispelling health misinformation and teaching others how to nourish themselves beyond the confines of toxic diet culture. If this aligns with your needs, subscribe to the blog and join our community.
My career began with a BS in Health and Nutrition Science from CUNY- Brooklyn College and continued through a PhD in Nutrition Science from Cornell University with a concentration in molecular metabolism. My research expertise spans nutrition and dietetics, maternal and child nutrition, metabolic disease, skeletal muscle metabolism and high throughput drug discovery in the context of mitochondrial disease.
The Holistic Health Nut (THHN) philosophy is rooted in the belief that true health encompasses the mind, body and soul. As a Christian, my faith deeply informs how I view wellness, not just as the absence of disease, but as a lifestyle grounded in purpose, balance and grace. As a scientist and nutrition expert, I understand and appreciate the importance of regular physical activity and consistent intake of nutrient dense foods in maintaining physical wellbeing. Finally, health is not complete without mental wellbeing. All three aspects require care as they are all interconnected. Stick around to learn how to care for your mind, body and spirit through an evidence based lens.
What you'll find here
Science, held alongside lived experience.
Public health asks a necessary question: what makes healthy choices possible in the first place?
Research, translated
Health misinformation is everywhere, especially on social media. So, let's fix that. Here, you’ll find current health research translated into clear, digestible insights you can understand and apply to everyday life.
Faith and purpose
My Christian faith reminds me that health is more than the physical. A relationship with God and a sense of purpose can shape how we experience wholeness. It also influences our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Here, you’ll find reflections on nurturing faith and exploring its place in a healthy, meaningful life.
Justice in the frame
Health is shaped by history, income, neighborhoods and policy. Those realities belong in the conversation. We call them social determinants of health (SDOH). Here you will find articles that discuss how each determinant factors into health outcomes.
